Incorporated 22 July 1861 and merged with the Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway in 1864 and became part of the North British Railway the following year.
It closed to passengers on 01 November 1954 but remain partial open to freight (for Molasses) until around 1992 as far as Menstrie. The line is currently mothballed.
